Tangany provides regulated custody infrastructure for Nexo's European operations

Elise Devaux

Marketing Manager, Tangany

Tangany takes on the role of regulated custody layer in a partnership with Nexo, one of the world's leading digital asset wealth platforms. Within this structure, Tangany holds digital assets in segregated, institutional-grade custody for Nexo’s clients in the European Economic Area

We are proud to be part of Nexo's next chapter in Europe, and in this blog, we share what we believe this partnership says about digital asset infrastructure in the post-MiCAR era.

Operating under MiCAR

With MiCAR now in full effect across the EEA, compliance requirements at every layer of the digital asset stack, from brokerage to custody, are the new standard.

Many platforms had to weigh the risks and opportunities of building regulatory infrastructure in-house against those of partnering with licensed specialists. In that context, we saw the partnership-first model gaining traction over the past months.

This model distributes regulatory and operational responsibility across specialized, licensed partners for greater resilience, rather than concentrating all regulatory and operational risk in one single provider.

This is the model behind our partnership with Nexo, with Tangany providing custody infrastructure and services for Nexo's EEA clients' crypto assets.

Custody infrastructure built for the MiCAR era

For platforms taking this approach, Tangany's custody layer brings three concrete advantages:

  • Risk reduction: Partnering with a MiCAR-licensed custodian means regulatory and operational risk at the custody layer is immediately addressed. Asset segregation, KYC/AML processes, and HSM and MPC security architecture are already built-in.

  • Speed to market: Certifying a custody stack in-house takes years, while integrating an API-first platform compresses that timeline to a few months. This allows platforms to go live at scale faster or maintain their market position without waiting for their own licensing and infrastructure processes to complete.

  • Integration flexibility: A custody infrastructure like Tangany's plugs directly into existing architectures without requiring any rebuild of the client-facing product and with services that flex to the platform's needs.

The result is an approach that does not trade compliance for agility. Integrated in a matter of months, the Nexo partnership demonstrates what that looks like in practice: a platform offering lending, trading, perpetual futures, card payments, and transfers across 30 EEA countries, onboarded onto Tangany's custody infrastructure ahead of the MiCAR enforcement deadline, with EEA clients continuing to access the full product suite without interruption.

Your European digital asset custody partner

For platforms working through their European regulatory setup, winding down operations is not the only path forward. Partnering with the right licensed specialist can ensure service continuity while building a resilient, distributed infrastructure.
