FAQ: Identification Process
Tim Schuster
Marketing Manager, TanganyWhy do I need to be (re)identified as a customer?
As a crypto custodian, Tangany is subject to the German Anti-Money Laundering Act (GwG) and is required to verify the identity of its users, which may be carried out by a third party. Customers may need to provide proof of identity and documentation (e.g., ID card).
In compliance with legal requirements, we must collect accurate and up-to-date information from you. Additionally, it is necessary to ensure that your data is updated periodically.
Which identification documents are accepted?
As part of our identification process, we accept all documents recognized as official identification in Germany. These include the ID card, passport, and residence permit for foreign nationals. If identification is conducted using a passport, an additional proof of address is required, as the passport does not include an address entry.
What identification methods are available?
For identification conducted by Tangany, you can conveniently complete the process using the POSTIDENT service provided by our partner Deutsche Post AG. You can choose from the following options:
In-branch identification: Visit a nearby post office to complete the identification process in person.
ID card (eID) identification: Use the online identification function of your ID card to complete the process digitally.
Video chat identification: Get identified remotely via a video chat, offering maximum flexibility.
